✿ " Am I pretty? "

Hi everyone!


Today's outfit is based upon and inspired by the Japanese urban legend of Kuchisake Onna, or also known as, the slit mouthed woman~! The inspiration for this post also came from antielle.'s amazing slit mouth tattoo available at the Xiasumi School Festival in the supernatural section! If you don't know of this, then I'll explain!~

~*~*~*~ STORY TIME *~*~*~*~

The slit mouthed woman was heard to have been a beautiful woman (but grew very conceited) with a horribly jealous and paranoid husband who accused her of cheating, so he took it upon himself to take away her beauty by scarring her face up to her ear; Soon after the woman died and ofcourse like any bad spirit...she returned and with vengeance. Now, there are many versions of this story, such as one with the woman getting tired of her husband who was actually mentally unstable which led her to cheating . Although, when she got caught, her husband decided to murder her, but first took away her beauty by slicing her mouth open with a sword...shortly afterward killing her and himself.Anyhow, the woman returns as an evil spirit and haunts children or anyone that comes to pass her on the street at night. She does this simply by asking you one question, "Am I pretty?". If you are to answer yes, she will remove her mask displaying her horrible scar and then asks you again, but if you are to say No, then she will use her scissors and viciously attack you; They say you cannot run because she will simply just appear infront of you.  So what if you said, Yes? Well, then she will state something like "Then you shall be pretty too" and thus scar your face like hers.  

The rumors of this urban legend had spread around rapidly and caused panic and hysteria in the Nagasaki Prefecture around the year 1979 and soon all of Japan. Many even started calling in town officials to escort children home and were told to not travel alone at night.
So there you have it! Oh right, they also say that Kuchisake Onna survives through time by having her story told...I guess I'm not helping huh. XD If you want to watch the movie version, search , Carved : The Slit Mouthed Woman (2007).
